SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of medicine, namely, to cardiology, therapy, ultrasound diagnostics, and can be used in evaluating the effectiveness of treatment of atherosclerosis. For this purpose, ultrasound duplex scanning of a.carotis communis, a.cerebri anterior, a.cerebri posterior, a.cerebri media is performed with a convex and sectoral probe before and 10 days after undergoing treatment for atherosclerosis. If after 10 days occurrence of a peak of the retrograde arterial flow or an increase in the peak detected in the first examination by at least 5 mm are detected on the above arteries, the treatment of atherosclerosis is considered effective.

EFFECT: increase in the accuracy of the method for evaluating the effectiveness of treatment of atherosclerosis for the purpose of selecting an effective treatment method, preventing the use of invasive examination methods.
