FIELD: welding.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in manual argon-arc welding of fillet joints of a fitting up to 250 mm long with a pipe with a diameter of more than 100 mm and a wall thickness of more than 10 mm, in particular for pipes of drainage lines and tie-ins of steam pipelines, collectors of superheaters of steam boilers. The corner joint of the fitting with the pipe is assembled. A hollow tube is passed through the fitting hole, having at least one hole in the side wall. The tube is closed at one end, on which a replaceable flexible plug made of heat-resistant silicone rubber is installed, with a diameter larger than the fitting hole. The hollow tube is installed with a tight fit of the silicone plug to the inner surface of the tube. At the other end of the hollow tube, coming out of the fitting to the outside, a cone-shaped washer is placed with a snug fit to the end of the fitting and a hose for supplying argon. Argon is supplied through a hose, a hollow tube and at least one hole in the side wall of the hollow tube to the area of the corner joint of the fitting with the pipe, and the root weld is welded along the perimeter of the joint. The hollow tube is removed, followed by final welding of the fillet joint until the groove is completely filled.

EFFECT: method provides protection of the inner side of the welded joint from oxidation when performing a fillet welded joint of a fitting with a pipe.
