FIELD: virtual reality technologies.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means for processing local transitions between listening positions in a virtual reality environment. An initial sound signal of a sound source is determined. Data on an initial position of the sound source on an initial sphere around an initial position of listener’s listening is determined. A bit stream containing the initial sound signal and data on the initial position is generated. An indication that the listener moves from the initial listening position to a target listening position is received. A target sound signal of the sound source is determined based on the initial sound signal. Data on a target position related to a target source position for the sound source on a target sphere around the target listening position is determined based on the initial source position by projecting the initial source position from the initial sphere to the target sphere. A bit stream containing the target sound signal and data on the target position is generated. The initial source position is projected from the initial sphere to the target sphere by perspective projection relatively to the target listening position.
EFFECT: increase in the processing efficiency.
