FIELD: means for processing information.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means for processing information about the position of a sound object. The technical result consists in increasing the efficiency of representing the movement of the listening position relative to the sound object. Listener orientation information is obtained indicating the orientation of the listener's head. Listener offset information is received indicating the offset of the listener's head relative to the nominal listening position. The position of the object is determined from the position information. The position of the object is modified based on the information about the displacement of the listener by applying translational movement to the position of the object. Additionally, the modified position of the object is modified based on the information about the orientation of the listener. When the listener displacement information indicates a displacement of the listener's head from the nominal listening position due to a small position displacement (0.5 meters or less than 0.5 meters), the distance between the position of the sound object and the listening position after the displacement of the listener's head is equal to the distance between the modified position of the sound object and nominal listening position.
EFFECT: increasing the efficiency of representing the movement of the listening position relative to the sound object.
