FIELD: organic chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of organic chemistry, specifically to a method for producing aminoacetic acid, which is the most important product of organic synthesis of the chemical industry. Aminoacetic acid (glycine) is widely used in the production of pharmaceutical and vitamin preparations, food additives, feed, pesticides. To simplify the manufacturing process, the synthesis of aminoacetic acid is carried out by the interaction of an aqueous-methanol solution containing monochloroacetic acid and formalin with an aqueous solution of ammonia, maintaining the pH of the reaction mixture at 6.5-7.5 and the reaction temperature 72-85°C for 30-120 minutes. The methanol content in the reaction mixture is 23-70 wt. %, which is achieved by simultaneously mixing a solution of monochloroacetic acid and formalin in methanol with an aqueous solution of ammonia. To isolate the target product, the reaction mass is cooled, mixed with methanol in a mass ratio of 1:3.5-4.0. The precipitate is filtered out, dried. The target product is obtained with a base substance content of 96.9-99.2 wt. % and yield 96.6-98.9 wt. %.
