FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology, amino acids.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for synthesis of α-amino acids, namely, aminoacetic acid (glycine) used in technique, medicine and food processing industry. Invention proposes a fireproof and ecologically pure method for synthesis of glycine from monochloroacetic acid and ammonia in filtrate aqueous medium from the step of aqueous filtration in the mole ratio monochloroacetic acid to hexamethylenetetramine = (9-15):1. The end product is isolated from the mother liquid in glycine purification by extraction with isopropyl alcohol. Method provides decreasing sewage waters and increasing yield of glycine.
EFFECT: improved method of synthesis.
