FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the creation of synthesis gas from hydrocarbon flows. An internal combustion engine operates in fuel-rich conditions by means of adjustment of one or more operating parameters, such as, for example, a throttle valve, an ignition moment, a load attached to the engine, fuel pressure, supercharger power, and preheater power, in order to maintain the specified engine speed and a waste gas temperature. Engine operation in such conditions provides for a possibility for the engine of functioning as a reforming installation creating synthesis gas containing hydrogen and carbon monoxide.
EFFECT: use of an internal combustion engine as a synthetic gas generator.
