SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an analytical technique. To determine the content of carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide in a gas mixture with nitrogen, a sensor is used containing the first electrochemical cell with a cavity formed by two solid electrolyte disks tightly connected to each other, on opposite surfaces of one of which there is a pair of electrodes connected to the first DC voltage source, a capillary is located between the disks, while the sensor contains a second cell, made similarly to the first, the electrode-free solid-electrolyte disk of which is the electrode-free solid-electrolyte disk of the first cell, and the second pair of electrodes of the second cell connected to the second DC voltage source, the sensor is immersed in the flow of the analyzed gas mixture, DC voltage is applied to the electrodes of the first cell designed to determine the carbon monoxide content so that there is a minus on the outer electrode, and there was a plus on the inner electrode, a DC voltage is applied to the electrodes of the second cell, designed to determine carbon dioxide, so, in order to have a plus on the outer electrode and a minus on the inner electrode, the resulting limiting currents in both cells are measured, which determine the content of carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide in a gas mixture with nitrogen.
