SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of medicine, namely to dentistry, and is intended for use in obtaining impressions or filling carious cavities localized in the region of the gum margin. The lavsan separation matrix is ​​installed and fixed in the Tofflmayr matrix holder, which is pre-perforated in two places with a root needle. Then the root needle is passed through the obtained perforations and bent for unhindered installation on the tooth crown. After that, a matrix with a needle is put on the tooth, and with the help of a screw, the matrix holder and the lavsan separation matrix are transferred to a non-displaceable state. With the help of a finger, the needle is moved apically until the tip of the needle reaches the gingival margin. The first point is marked on the needle, corresponding to the point of the tooth, relative to which further measurement will be carried out. For unhindered introduction of the retraction thread into the periodontal sulcus or periodontal pocket, the needle is moved coronally and cut off, stepping back from the bending point of 5-6 mm. Then a retraction thread is inserted into the periodontal sulcus or periodontal pocket, after 3-5 minutes the retraction thread is removed from the volume of the periodontal sulcus or periodontal pocket and a second measurement is taken, for which the needle is moved apically until the tip of the needle reaches the displaced gum edge. A second point is marked on the needle with a diamond bur, corresponding to the point of the tooth, relative to which the measurement is taken. By measuring the distance on the needle between the first and second points, a conclusion is made about the distance over which the edge of the gum moves.

EFFECT: method allows to determine the exact distance of movement of the gum edge.
