FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to exopolysaccharide having cryoprotective properties. Exopolysaccharide is proposed, having cryoprotective properties, which is produced by a strain of Pseudoalteromonas sp. CY01, deposited under a number of KCTC 12867BP. The specified exopolysaccharide consists of glucose and galactose, while the molar ratio of glucose and galactose is 3.4:1. By hydrolysis of the specified exopolysaccharide, exopolysaccharide is obtained, having cryoprotective properties, having molecular weight from 1.0 x 105 to 4.3 x 105 Da, which consists of glucose and galactose. Methods for the production of the specified exopolysaccharides, a composition for cryoprotection of at least one cell, containing the effective amount of one of the specified exopolysaccharides, and the use of the specified exopolysaccharides for cell cryopreservation are also proposed.

EFFECT: exopolysaccharide, according to the present invention, shows excellent cryoprotective properties at a relatively low concentration compared to other cryoprotective agents, as well as does not show cytotoxicity.
