SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a method for operation of a vehicle with a recuperative device and a vehicle with a control unit, implementing this method. The method includes: organization of a recuperation mode, organization of a free running mode, selection of an operating mode, operation of a vehicle in the selected operating mode. The selection of the operating mode depends on the current distance between the vehicle and a vehicle following it at a specific time and/or a predicted driving situation, and it is determined based on a predicted distance between the vehicle and the vehicle following it.
EFFECT: increase in a cruising range of a vehicle is achieved.
