FIELD: melting.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to furnaces for cold crucible induction melting, which are used for melting non-conductive materials, and can be used primarily for the immobilization of high-level wastes containing precious metals, the particles of which interfere with the normal operation of the bottom drain devices of the furnaces. The induction furnace for vitrification of high-level waste contains an inductor, a metal water-cooled crucible with a hot-type induction downcomer. The bottom part of the crucible and the inductor is made in the form of a cone. The coils of the inductor are located opposite the conical part of the crucible, and a drain device is located in the lower part of the crucible sections. The drain device is made in the form of a funnel with a thermally insulated conical part. The drain inductor is made with a reduced pitch of turns in the area of the cone of the funnel and increased in the area of the tube.
EFFECT: invention provides the best removal of precious metals with the drained glass melt, with the possibility of multiple draining of the melt without re-starting heating and restarting the furnace.
