FIELD: induction melting furnaces.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to cold crucible induction melting furnaces, which are used for melting non-conductive materials, and can be used to study the behavior of a volcanic rock melt during volcanic eruptions and the release of a gas-aerosol fraction from the melt with the occurrence of explosions with the release of melt bombs. The furnace contains a female inductor and a cold crucible, consisting of metal water-cooled sections forming a melt pool, while the ratio of the height to the diameter of the melt pool is more than 4, and the height of the inductor is 1.5-2.5 times less than the height of the melt pool. The inductor is located at the bottom of the cold crucible.
EFFECT: invention ensures operation of the furnace with a 0.5 m high molten pool, which brings the conditions for the release of the gas-aerosol fraction under physical modeling conditions closer to the real conditions of volcanic eruptions and contributes to a detailed study of volcanic processes.
