FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to ophthalmology. The patient is examined using videonystagmography, while the patient is put on a structure that includes a spectacle frame, to which two infrared cameras and a laser pointer projecting a test object are attached, the structure is connected to a personal computer on which a program for processing results is installed - built-in software. To measure the angle of deviation, the center of the pupil of the fixing eye is taken as the reference point while covering the other eye, the patient is asked to look in nine directions of gaze alternately with a straight and subjectively comfortable head position with two open eyes and with covering one of the eyes during the entire study, depending on the displacement of the pupil from the given position when fixing. The position of the eyes is automatically determined, at which the oscillatory movements decrease or disappear completely, which is taken as the nystagmus blocking point. If the blocking point of nystagmus is determined in at least one of the directions of gaze, this is an indication for surgical treatment of nystagmus, which consists in the recession of the rectus muscles of the eyes, ipsilateral to the direction of gaze, to transfer the blocking point to a direct position when looking directly. In a particular case, if the patient has refractive errors, lenses with the required optical power are installed in the spectacle frame of the device.
EFFECT: method allows to accurately measure the functional parameters of nystagmus with a detailed definition of the blocking point for calculating the dosage of surgical treatment, which allows to reduce the amplitude and frequency of oscillatory movements of nystagmus in the straight position of the head when looking straight and to level the subjectively comfortable position of the head.
