FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of electrical engineering, namely to electrical energy supply of electric trains, for example electric trains ED-4M. A power unit of an electric train designed for supply of low-voltage circuits of electric equipment of cars of the electric train includes battery cells sequentially connected by jumpers into a rechargeable battery (hereinafter – RB) and a voltage converter, and differs in that sealed lead-acid batteries with gel electrolyte and flexible jumpers are used in RB, and the voltage converter consists of two pulsed direct voltage converters connected to an electrical network of the car and outputs of RB unit, while pulsed converters and RB are connected to a control system based on a microcontroller, to which a scheme of protection from deep discharge and redundancy, heat protection, a power supply source of 24 V, and real-time clock are connected, while the protection scheme provides an automatic mode of RB charge and discharge with protection of batteries from deep discharge, heat protection performs protection of power elements of converters from overheating, the power supply source of 24 V provides power supply of circuits of the control system and external connected devices.

EFFECT: increase in a service life of a power unit of an electric train.
