FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of metallurgy, namely, to magnesium-based casting alloys, and can be applied in manufacturing parts in the automotive, rocket and space, and aviation industries, as well as body parts of various electronic equipment operating in settings of high probability of a sudden temperature jump or direct impact of flame. Fire-resistant magnesium casting alloy contains, % wt.: yttrium 5 to 8, zinc 1.5 to 3, neodymium 0 to 2, zirconium 0.3 to 1, cerium, and/or ytterbium, and/or europium in total 0.2 to 1%, magnesium the rest, wherein the alloy has an ignition point of 1,000°C.
EFFECT: increase in the ignition point of the alloy with the maintained high strength and plasticity of the magnesium alloy.
