FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to magnesium-based casting alloys, and can be used as a structural material in the manufacture of parts in the automotive industry, aerospace and aviation industries, as well as housing parts for various electronic equipment, etc., operating in conditions with an increased likelihood of a sudden temperature increase or direct exposure to flame. The casting alloy contains, wt.%: yttrium 3.5-8.0, gadolinium 1.5-5.5, zinc from more than 2 to 3.0, zirconium from more than 0.7 to 1.0, ytterbium 0.2-0.5, magnesium and impurities - the rest.
EFFECT: alloy is characterized by high tensile strength above 280 MPa and ignition temperature above 1000°C.
