FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the purification of wastewater containing nitric acid, formed in etherification of ethylene glycol based on coal. A method for conversion of nitric acid by reduction is proposed, in which a redox reaction of conversion of nitric acid into methyl nitrite occurs. Gaseous initial material enriched with nitrogen oxide NO is brought into contact with liquid initial material containing nitric acid and methanol in a multistage sequential reactor of nitric acid reduction. Gaseous initial material enriched with nitrogen oxide NO comes to each stage of the multistage sequential reactor of nitric acid reduction. Liquid initial material containing nitric acid and methanol comes to the first stage of the reactor of nitric acid reduction. Liquid after the reaction at the first stage of the reactor of nitric acid reduction comes to the following stage of the reactor of nitric acid reduction.
EFFECT: invention allows for increase in a degree of conversion of nitric acid and selectivity of methyl nitrite formation.
