FIELD: power industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to cable production and is intended to protect high-voltage power transmission lines from the destructive effects of atmospheric overvoltages (lightning discharges). The lightning protection cable consists of steel wires twisted according to the type of strip touch in 2-3 concentric layers with the same number of wires in the layer around the central part, while the central part is formed for a separate technological operation and consists of 3-10 steel wires twisted according to the type of strip touch; moreover, the degree of compression of the cross-sectional area of the central part and the cable as a whole is 4-18%, or of steel wires twisted according to the type of strip contact in two concentric layers around the central steel wire with a diameter of d1, in the first layer the number of steel wires with a diameter of d2 is equal to the number of steel wires with a diameter of d3 in the second layer, and the ratio of the diameters of steel wires in layers is d1:d2:d3=(1.7÷2.0):1:(1.5÷1.9); moreover, the degree of compression of the cross-sectional area of the central part and the cable as a whole is 4-18%.
EFFECT: production of a lightning protection cable with increased resistance to lightning strike.
