FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of metallurgy, in particular to the production of ferrovanadium by the aluminothermic method by reducing technical vanadium pentoxide with aluminum. In the recovery period of melting, an aluminothermic charge mixture is used containing aluminum in an amount of 0.52-0.58 by weight of vanadium pentoxide, and in the refining period of melting, the ratio of vanadium pentoxide and lime in the refining charge mixture is set to 1: (0.41-0.55), while the refining charge mixture contains aluminum in the amount of 0.02-0.40 by weight of vanadium pentoxide. The ferrovanadium alloy contains, wt.%: vanadium 78.0-82.0, aluminum 0.2-1.0, carbon 0.01-0.3, manganese 0.24-2.32, silicon 0.02-2 .0, copper 0.006-0.1, arsenic 0.005-0.01, sulfur 0.01-0.06, phosphorus 0.003-0.04, iron and inevitable impurities - the rest.
EFFECT: invention allows maintaining vanadium recovery rates by reducing vanadium losses with overflow slags and improving the quality of the alloy by limiting the aluminum content in the finished product, as well as reducing the content of harmful impurities in ferrovanadium.
