FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, in particular to the production of low copper alloys; it can be used for the manufacture of parts of electric propulsion systems. A method for the production of a low alloy based on copper, containing iron in amount of 2.6-2.85 wt.%, includes melting of copper of M0 or M1 grade in a high-frequency induction furnace under the coverage of a fine-dispersed coke or graphite layer with a thickness of 15-20 mm in a forced mode, then increase in a melt temperature for 1200°C, diffuse deoxidation for 30-40 min, and introduction of technologically pure electrotechnical iron into the melt. In this case, before introduction of iron, the melt temperature is increased for 1280-1300°C, and, before pouring, a melt mirror is purified from slag cover.
EFFECT: invention is aimed at the obtainment of a melt with high electroconductivity, while saving a level of strength properties corresponding to aluminum bronze.
