FIELD: smoking accessories.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for the production of racemic nicotine, which includes the following stages: nicotinoyl chloride and methylamine are introduced into the reaction under the conditions of the basic medium to obtain methylnicotinamide, then condensed with monochloroacetone to obtain N-methyl-N-(2-oxopropyl)nicotinamide, then internal aldol condensation is carried out to obtain 1-methyl-5-(pyridine-3-yl)-1,2-dihydro-3H-pyrrol-3-on and, finally, reduced to obtain racemic nicotine. The reaction as a whole includes a short synthesis path, a simple process, mild reaction conditions, simple post-treatment and a high yield of racemic nicotine, being suitable for large-scale industrial production.
EFFECT: method provides a new method for the synthesis of racemic nicotine, using cheap and readily available nicotinoyl chloride and methylamine as starting materials, including the low cost of raw materials.
