FIELD: surface ships.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for determining the distance to a surface ship in conditions of far zones of acoustic illumination according to the data of a direction-finding station installed on a submarine. To do this, the vertical distribution of the speed of sound is measured in a certain way, a direction-finding relief is formed using a hydroacoustic antenna, a target mark is detected, tracking is continued, and the distance to the target is determined by providing certain calculations.
EFFECT: increased accuracy of distance determination.
