FIELD: hydroacoustics.
SUBSTANCE: methods and devices for detecting marine targets by their noise emission, and more specifically methods for determining the coordinates of targets using interference maxima in the autocorrelation function of target noise. A method for determining the distance to a sea target emitting noise, including detection of a broadband target signal at the output of a noise direction finding station, measurement of its ACF, detection of narrow-band MI in the measured ACF, determination of the abscissa of MI with the largest amplitude, for a known target depth and a set of possible distances to the target with using a ray program for calculating the acoustic field of the source, the ray structure of the target signal is calculated, using which the ACF of the target signal is calculated, in which one to three MIs with the greatest amplitude are detected, their abscissas are determined, from the set of distances to the target, the distance for which the abscissa of the MI with the greatest amplitude is selected amplitude in the measured ACF is closest to one of the MI abscissas in the calculated ACF.
EFFECT: improved accuracy of determining the coordinates of a target emitting noise.
