FIELD: petroleum industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the petroleum and gas industry and can be used, in particular, for controlling the effectiveness of electrochemical protection of an underground pipeline from corrosion without affecting the metal of the pipes. Substance: apparatus comprises a reference electrode and at least one non-contact current indicator secured at the welding point on the pipe with a strap made of electrotechnical steel enveloping the pipe. The electrodes and the non-contact current sensor are linked with a measuring instrument unit configured to connect to the cathodic protection means.
EFFECT: higher accuracy of measurement and expanded range of technical means providing indication of the pipeline current without removing the insulating coating of the pipelines.
