FIELD: electrochemical flow cells.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an electrochemical flow cell, including: a reaction chamber; first electrode; second electrode; and a separator placed between the first and second electrodes, wherein the separator, at least partially, forms a first channel within the reaction chamber, configured to receive a flow of the first fluid in contact with the first electrode, and a second channel within the reaction chamber, configured to receive flow of the second fluid in contact with the second electrode. Moreover, the separator includes a permeable membrane configured to provide electrical communication between the first and second electrodes through the fluid streams, at the same time limiting the exchange of fluid between the fluid streams, and the first electrode is an electrode with a static mixer function, including an electrically conductive section a static mixer forming a plurality of separating structures configured to separate the first fluid stream into a plurality of separate substreams at a plurality of locations along the length of the first electrode. The invention also relates to an electrochemical flow system, a method for electrochemical processing of a fluid flow, a method for electrochemical synthesis of a product.
