FIELD: mirrors.
SUBSTANCE: polygonal mirror rotates around an axis of rotation. A first reflecting surface and a second reflecting surface are placed on two or more of the multiple faces of the polygonal mirror, respectively. The first reflecting surface is formed with a flat shape inclined in a plane perpendicular to the axis of rotation. The second reflecting surface is formed with a flat shape inclined in a plane perpendicular to the axis of rotation. The light received by the polygonal mirror is reflected by the first reflecting surface and then by the second reflecting surface. Among the multiple faces of the mirror, at least one of the directions wherein the first reflecting surface is inclined relative to the plane perpendicular to the axis of rotation is different from the distance in the direction of the axis of rotation between the first reflecting surface and the second reflecting surface.
EFFECT: higher speed of switching the scanning range and scanning with low distortion.
