FIELD: chemical industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the chemical industry, namely to the protection of the surface of steel structures of equipment for the recovery of absorption heat from the production of sulfuric acid. During the operation of steel equipment in the production of contact sulfuric acid, chemical corrosion of internal surfaces occurs due to the circulation of hot, highly concentrated sulfuric acid. A method is proposed for passivation of the contact surface of equipment made of austenitic nickel-containing steel, including surface treatment of 98.0-100.0 wt.% concentrated sulfuric acid at a temperature of 120-200°C for 200-400 hours.
EFFECT: invention provides passivation of the contact surface of equipment made of austenitic nickel-containing steel to obtain a protective film resistant to aggressive environments.
