SUBSTANCE: invention relates to agriculture, in particular to devices for cutting root crops into plates in production lines for preparing feed for feeding on livestock farms and complexes. The chopper of root crops consists of a collapsible body, in the upper part of which there is a loading window, and in the lower part - an unloading window. In the lower part of the housing, a replaceable horizontal cutting drum is fixedly installed, consisting of annular knives located relative to each other at a distance corresponding to zootechnical requirements. The cutting drum is connected to the lower part of the body by means of studs with nuts. Through the center of the cutting drum passes a shaft with a screw winding and a shaft, which is a truncated cone, along the generatrix of which the root crops slide to the block of annular knives. One shaft is driven by an electric motor, and the other shaft is driven by a gear motor. The shaft enters the end of the shaft, which rotate in three bearings. One end of the carrier is rigidly connected to the shaft, and rollers are located at the other end. The axis of each of the rollers passes through the holes in the carrier with the possibility of rotation. From each end of the carrier, combs are fixed, having internal protrusions for pushing root and tuber crops and cleaning the inter-knife spaces of the cutting drum. To adjust the gap between the sharp edge of the knives and the roller, an adjusting device is used in the form of four bolts, two nuts for each bolt and four brackets. The degree of crushing of root crops is regulated by installing a replaceable block of annular knives of the cutting drum with different distances between them.

EFFECT: increase in operational reliability, increase in productivity and decrease in energy intensity of the process of cutting root crops.
