FIELD: high-temperature passivation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to high-temperature passivation of structural materials of the external circuit of molten-salt reactors (MSR) operating with the use of molten fluoride salts. In the method, the surface in contact with the eutectic salt melt of the composition 46.5LiF-11.5NaF-42KF is passivated, while passivation is carried out by adding lithium oxide to the salt melt in an amount of from 0.2 to 0.3 wt.%.
EFFECT: invention ensures the formation of a passivating layer directly in the fluoride melt on the surface of structural materials for LSR. Moreover, when lithium oxide is introduced into the fluoride eutectic melt of the composition 46.5LiF-11.5NaF-42KF in an amount of from 0.2 to 0.3 wt.% samples of steel 12X18H10T and alloy Hastelloy C2000, related to typical structural materials used in MSR, working using molten fluoride salts, exhibit significantly lower corrosion activity than in the melt without the addition of lithium oxide.
