FIELD: electrochemical deposition.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the electrochemical deposition of copper coatings on the surface of stainless steel 12X18H10T using molten salts and can be used to protect structural materials from corrosion. The method includes electrolysis of a melt of the composition CuCl 6 wt.% - KCl 44 wt.% - NaCl 50 wt.%, while the electrolysis is carried out in an inert atmosphere at a temperature of 500°C and a cathode current density ≤ 0.2 A/cm2.
EFFECT: simplification and safety improvement of obtaining a copper layer that protects the surface of steel 12X18H10T from corrosion.
