FIELD: various technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of treating the surface of a niobium substrate. Surface of the niobium substrate is subjected to micro-arc oxidation in a water-alkaline solution to obtain an oxide film. Boron-containing coating is applied on the surface of said substrate and said substrate with boron-containing coating is heated. Said boron-containing coating contains 50 wt. % of ammonium salt of 2-monoethanolamine and boric acid and 50 wt. % of soot powder, wherein said heating is carried out at temperature of 950–1,325 °C with exposure of 4.5–9.5 minutes.

EFFECT: improves quality of coating by forming a diffusion zone at the coating-substrate interface and increases the productivity of the coating formation process.
