FIELD: metal processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for chemical-thermal treatment and can be used to increase the operational resistance of carbon steel products. The method for borating the surface of a carbon steel substrate includes applying a boron-containing coating to the surface of a carbon steel substrate and heating the said substrate with a coating. A boron-containing coating is applied, containing, wt. %: 50 ammonium salt of 2-monoethanolamine and boric acid and 50 soot powder. Heating is carried out at a temperature of 950-1325°C with an exposure time of 4.5-9.5 min.
EFFECT: quality of coatings is improved by forming a diffusion zone at the coating-substrate interface and increasing the productivity of the coating formation process.
