SUBSTANCE: area of application: in a traction power supply system for electrified railway transport. The technical result is achieved by adjusting the charge characteristic of the storage system based on the data on the charge degree values for the corresponding measurement time, with account to the limits of the charge characteristic. Apparatus for determining the charge characteristic of an automatic voltage and power adjustment system in a traction power supply system comprises an operating mode control unit for the storage system, a charge characteristic data storage unit, a charge characteristic data reading and transmission unit, a transmission unit for the data on the current values of electrical quantities, a storage unit for the data on measurements and calculation results, and a charge characteristic data reading and transmission unit. Additionally included are a unit for calculating the statistical indicators of the charge degree and a unit for recording the charge degree graph, connected to the inputs and outputs of the storage unit for the data on measurements and calculation results.

EFFECT: lower power losses in the contact network when the electricity storage system is charged.
