FIELD: electric power industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relate to the field of electric power industry to control reactive power in power lines. The static reactive power compensator contains a reactive element and a variable sinusoidal voltage regulator. The regulator is built on the basis of a transformer with a secondary winding made in the form of isolated sections and a controlled switch. The regulator also contains a source of alternating sinusoidal voltage, a voltage measurement unit at the input terminals of the sinusoidal alternating voltage source, a control system unit that sets the control action on the alternating sinusoidal voltage regulator. Due to the combinations of sequential connection of sections of the secondary winding of the transformer using the keys of the controlled switch, fourteen different levels of regulation of the reactive power of the static reactive power compensator are obtained.
EFFECT: reduction of electrical energy losses at the installation sites of static reactive power compensators in power lines while maintaining high discreteness of reactive power control levels.
