FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in electrical networks in transverse compensation devices for controlling reactive power in a power transmission line (PTL) in order to reduce electrical energy losses and regulate voltage at the installation sites of these devices in power lines. The static reactive power compensator contains a reactive element and an AC sinusoidal voltage regulator built on the basis of a transformer, the secondary winding of which is made in the form of isolated sections and a controlled semiconductor switch, to the input terminals of which the outputs of the isolated sections of the secondary winding of the transformer are connected. The primary winding of the transformer is connected to a network of alternating sinusoidal voltage, and one of the isolated sections of the secondary winding of the transformer, not connected to the input terminals of a controlled semiconductor switch, is connected in series to a branch consisting of a series connection of the output terminals of an alternating sinusoidal voltage regulator and a reactive element, connected to the network of alternating sinusoidal voltage.
EFFECT: reduction in the voltage class of thyristor switches and switching equipment, as well as a reduction in the requirements for the maximum voltage of the reactive element used in static reactive power compensators.
