FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in electrical networks in transverse compensation devices for controlling reactive power in a power transmission line (PTL). A method for controlling the power of a static reactive power compensator, consisting of a series connection of a capacitive element and a voltage regulator operating in a sinusoidal voltage network, uses setting the value of the static reactive power compensator generated by the static reactive power compensator, measuring the voltage at the input terminals of the static reactive power compensator, calculating the required voltage value applied to a capacitive element corresponding to the given value of reactive power, setting a control action on the voltage regulator, which ensures formation and change of voltage on the capacitive element at fixed times in relation to the sinusoidal network voltage. In this case, a reactor is connected in series with the capacitive element, and a controlled switch is connected in parallel to the branch consisting of the capacitive element and the reactor. In the steady state of operation of the static reactive power compensator, the controlled switch is maintained in the open state, and when the reactive power changes, control is removed from the voltage regulator, the controlled switch is closed and, upon completion of the flow of current through it, it is opened again, after which a new control action is set on the regulator voltage.
EFFECT: improved reliability of the static reactive power compensator due to reduced requirements for operating voltages and permissible surge current of the voltage regulator.
