FIELD: treatment of water.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of environmental protection, in particular, to a method for producing a sorbent for purifying waste water from petroleum products, and can be used in the petroleum and gas industry, chemical engineering, and other industries for pretreatment of waste water with severe petroleum contamination. Presented is a method for producing a modified sorbent for purifying waste water from petroleum products, including the stages of crushing the raw materials, subjecting said materials to heat treatment, holding, and cooling; bottom ash waste accumulated at ash disposal sites according to the hydraulic ash handling scheme is used as raw materials for producing the sorbent; the bottom ash is crushed to a particle size of 0.25 to 0.5 mm, and the heat treatment and holding are executed in two, wherein at the first stage, the materials are heated to 110–120°C and held at the temperature set for 30 to 35 minutes, and at the second stage, the materials are heated to 600–630 °C and held at the temperature set for 40 to 45 minutes, resulting in modified bottom ash; characterised by the modified bottom ash being made water-repellent by adding a waterproofing silicon-containing fluid (WSF) of the Tiprom K brand in the 1:5 ratio of WSF:bottom ash, the mixture is homogenised by thoroughly stirring into a homogeneous viscous mass, holding at a temperature of 160 °C until fully dried, followed by grinding in a mortar in order to crush the lumps formed in the process of moistening the bottom ash with the WSF.
EFFECT: higher environmental sustainability characteristics, sorption capacity, and buoyancy of the sorbent.
