FIELD: environmental protection.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to environmental protection and specifically to a method of producing zeolites for purifying waste water from contaminants. Distinctive feature of the method of producing a sorbent from ash and slag wastes is that prepared calcined ash-slag is subjected to hydrothermal treatment by adding 2M sodium hydroxide solution in ratio of 10 cm3 per 1 g of prepared calcined ash-slag, subsequent boiling in closed crucible for 180 minutes and cooling to room temperature. Supernatant is then decanted and washed successively with 0.01M hydrochloric acid and distilled water to a neutral rinsing medium. After that, the crucible with the sorbent is placed in a drying cabinet and held at temperature of 110±5 °C for 30 minutes. Dried sorbent in the crucible is cooled in air to room temperature and triturated with a glass rod to remove lumps.

EFFECT: increased sorption capacity of zeolite and reduced time for achieving phase equilibrium in zeolite-pollutant solution.
