FIELD: measuring technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measuring technology, in particular to the measurement of the relative permittivity and the tangent of the dielectric loss angle of materials. A method for determining the relative permittivity of a material with losses, including measuring the thickness of the sample, tuning the resonator to resonance without a sample, measuring the length of the resonator and the frequency to which the resonator is tuned without a sample, by which the Q-factor of the resonant curve is determined, placing the sample on a movable piston, tuning the resonator to resonance with the sample, measuring the length of the resonator and frequency, to which the resonator with the sample is tuned, according to which the Q-factor of the resonant curve is determined, calculation of the magnitude of the change in the length and Q-factor of the resonator resonant curve without a sample and with a sample, which determine the values of the relative permittivity of the material and the tangent of the dielectric loss angle, respectively, while determining the value of the relative permittivity for the sample material, taking into account the losses according to a given formula.
EFFECT: increase in the accuracy of determining the relative permittivity of the material.
