FIELD: testing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of ultrasonic inspection of workpieces for internal defects. Method includes the stages of subjecting the workpiece to ultrasonic waves; recording the ultrasonic signals resulting from the effect of ultrasonic waves on the workpiece by means of at least one sensor; forming an ultrasonic tomogram of the workpiece based on the ultrasonic signals; and analysing said tomogram in order to identify internal defects therein. Ultrasonic waves caused by machining the workpiece are used herein as ultrasonic waves for the effect on the workpiece.
EFFECT: simplification and acceleration of the process of inspecting a workpiece for defects.
