FIELD: wireless communication.
SUBSTANCE: to realise the technical result, the method for random access includes the stage of the wireless communication apparatus transmitting a first message including a header and payload to the network. The wireless communication apparatus receives a second message from the network in response to the first message. Herewith, the second message constitutes a MAC PDU including one or more MAC subPDUs, and each MAC subPDU of the one or more MAC subPDUs includes at least one of the following: (a) a first MAC subtitle only with a backoff indicator, (b) a second MAC subtitle and a SuccessRAR, or (c) a third MAC subtitle and a backup RAR.
EFFECT: possibility of supporting a two-stage random access procedure and a four-stage random access procedure using signalling of switching between said procedures.
