SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radio communications. The UE's method includes receiving a message from a network node containing information about one or more sets of dedicated random access channel (RACH) resources, each set of dedicated RACH resources being associated with a beam associated with a target cell. A beam quality estimate for each beam associated with the specified one or more sets of allocated RACH resources is obtained. It is determined based on the obtained beam quality estimate whether any beam associated with the specified one or more sets of allocated RACH resources meets one or more criteria from the first set of criteria for performing random access. Random access is performed.
EFFECT: preventing the failure of the random access procedure.
