SUBSTANCE: invention relates to equipment for ion exchange processes in the chemical industry. The ion exchange apparatus contains a cylindrical body, an elliptical lid and bottom, upper and lower drainage and distribution devices, fittings for the input of source water, regeneration solution, washing water, fittings for the discharge of purified water, waste regeneration solution and washing water, a fixed layer of ionite particles, a layer of inert material particles, a layer of fluidized ionite. The body of the device consists of two cylindrical shells of different diameters, the lower part of the first of which with a smaller diameter is installed inside the second shell of a larger diameter. The flat cover is made in the form of a circular ring located in the upper part of the shell of a larger diameter between its inner surface and the outer surface of the shell of a smaller diameter. The lower drainage and distribution device is made in the form of a circular ring located under a flat lid. To ensure that the device is inoperable, the arrangement of a stationary layer of ionite particles with a density lower than the density of the treated water, free space and a layer of particles of inert material from top to bottom along its height. For the stages of water purification, regeneration and washing, a fixed layer of ionite particles and a layer of inert material particles are located from top to bottom along the height of the apparatus, a free space is located between the shell of a smaller diameter and the shell of a larger diameter. For the loosening stage, a layer of fluidized ionite and a layer of inert material particles are located from top to bottom along the height of the apparatus.

EFFECT: present invention enables to perform the ion exchange water purification using ionites with a density lower than the density of the purified water.
