FIELD: various technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to equipment for ion exchange processes in chemical industry. A distinctive feature of the ion-exchange apparatus is that the body of the apparatus consists of a cylindrical shell and a conical shell located underneath it and having a cross-section tapering downward and a flat bottom to ensure the following conditions of layers during operation of the apparatus: for the stages of water treatment, regeneration and washing, a fixed layer of ionite particles, layer of particles of inert material and free space are arranged from top to bottom along the height of the apparatus, for the stage of backwashing, a layer of fluidised ionite and a layer of particles of inert material are located from top to bottom along the height of the apparatus.
EFFECT: reduced volume of inert material loading into the apparatus.
