FIELD: measuring technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for remote measurement of the complex permittivity of planar-layered dielectrics of natural origin. The substance of the invention lies in the fact that transmitting and receiving radio modules are placed above the studied area of the earth's surface, the earth's surface is irradiated from the position of the transmitter with radio waves of a fixed frequency with vertical and horizontal polarization at different angles of incidence on the surface, the receiving position is moved to change the angle of incidence, interference is received a signal on horizontal and vertical polarization, oscillations of interference waves are recorded separately for a horizontally and vertically polarized signal, the Brewster pseudo-angle is determined by the appearance of a phase difference between vertically and horizontally polarized interference signals, and the complex permittivity of a surface area is calculated.

EFFECT: increasing the accuracy of measurements of the complex permittivity of a section of the earth's surface with diffuse and specular reflection of a probing radio signal.
