SUBSTANCE: invention describes an absorbent article comprising a liquid-permeable top layer, a liquid-impermeable outer layer and an absorbent middle layer, containing an absorbent material between the upper middle layer wrap sheet and the lower middle layer wrap sheet, the absorbent middle layer is located between the upper layer and the outer layer; absorbent middle layer has first and second longitudinal edges (131, 132) and front and rear transverse edges (133, 134), wherein the absorbent middle layer is provided with a plurality of connection zones, in which the upper middle layer wrap sheet is attached to the lower middle layer wrap sheet, wherein the plurality of connection zones comprise: at least first and second elongated connection zones, first and second elongated connection zones extend adjacent to each other from the crotch region towards the front and/or rear transverse edge; at least one connection zone connects the first connection zone with the second connection zone.
