FIELD: non-destructive control of oil and gas pipelines and oil product pipelines technical condition.

SUBSTANCE: for performing non-destructive control of oil and gas pipelines and oil product pipelines technical condition using electromagnetic acoustic transducers (EMAT). Device contains a magnetic system, at least one emitting EMAT with a coil made in the form of a meander, at least two EMATs working only for reception and located at a distance from the emitting EMAT. The emitting EMAT generates ultrasonic waves within the monitored pipeline wall surface magnetised in a given direction of magnetic induction. The magnetic system is designed to magnetise the pipe wall either tangentially or normally. EMATs, which operate only for reception, are shifted relative to the axis directed along the ultrasonic wave propagation and passing through the middle of the emitting EMAT coil. EMATs, which operate only for reception, are located at an angle of 10° to 60° to the emitting EMAT in case of the pipeline wall tangential magnetisation and 10° to 170° in case of the pipeline wall normal magnetisation. The emitting EMAT is installed so that the conductors of the larger meander coil wall are perpendicular to the pipeline wall magnetization vector direction.

EFFECT: invention provides possibility to improve quality of pipeline ultrasonic monitoring without an additional increase in energy costs.
