FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: method for controlling the reactance of the reactive power compensator, the equivalent reactance of the reactive power compensator is formed by summing the currents of the capacitor bank and the controlled reactor, the reactor control is synchronized with the AC sinusoidal voltage network. The controlled reactor and the capacitor bank are made in the form of separate controlled units, consisting of several parallel lines with reactive elements having fixed parameter values. Based on the number of parallel lines of each controlled unit, the fixed parameters of the reactive elements of the lines of the controlled units are selected so that the reactances of the controlled units, separately and when they are connected in parallel, provide the maximum number of different fixed values of the equivalent resistances of the reactive power compensator, save these values and, when forming the required value of reactive resistance of the reactive power compensator, choose from the fixed values closest to the required value. Determine and form the fixed values of the reactance of the controlled units, corresponding to the selected value of the reactance of the reactive power compensator. Synchronization of setting the states of the controlled units with the network of alternating sinusoidal voltage is carried out separately.
