SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for assessment of lighting condition suitability for analyte determination in a sample, using a mobile device camera, and to a method for analyte determination in a sample, using a mobile device camera. Method (110) for assessment of lighting condition suitability for analyte determination in a sample, using mobile device (114) camera (112), includes: a) (117) obtainment of at least one first image of at least one test strip (116), while test strip (116) is made with the possibility of analyte determination in a sample, wherein test strip (116) contains at least one test field (118) containing at least one test chemical for a reaction of optical determination in the presence of analyte, while lighting source (120) of mobile device (114) is turned off during obtainment of the first image; b) (122) obtainment of at least one second image of test strip (116), while lighting source (120) of mobile device (114) is turned on during obtainment of the second image; c) (124) comparison of the first and the second images obtained at stages a) (117) and b) (122), thereby determining the difference in lighting conditions between the first image and the second image; and d) (126) obtainment of at least one information about suitability based on comparison at the stage c) (124), while information about suitability contains information about lighting condition suitability for analyte determination.
